Geelong Half Marathon- Geelong-11th Sept
The Geelong Cross Country Club offers two Half Marathons in its race calendar. The first takes place on the first Sunday after Easter and the second is in September. The September Half Marathon is a no frills cheap entry run ($10 in previous years) and acts as an excellent lead-up to the Melbourne Marathon. For non club members it is a chance to have a timed run over an accurate distance with some competition. Spot prizes, but not prices for placings, are available for non club members. The course starts under the Moorabool St. Bridge on the Barwon River and follows a scenic course along the river away from traffic. The course is flat and fast. Plenty of close parking is available and there is also a 5 km event conducted for family and less serious runners. Entry is on the day from 7:35 a.m. till 8:05 a.m. adjacent to the bridge. Non club members will begin their run at 8:30 am.  The handicapped race for club members starts at 8:30 a.m. too with the slowest runner starting first and the last runner starting at around 9:30 a.m.
